Who We Are

Our school is the culmination of years of teaching and performing experience. We take pride in providing our students with a high-quality, personal education experience. Our staff has a combined experience of several decades of performing and teaching music. Each of our instructors were hand-picked based on their extensive history of live performance and years of teaching their instrument(s). Mobius Music Academy is also connected to many well known South Florida musicians who regularly teach workshop sessions and participate in group jams at our school.

Our Philosophy

We strongly believe that everyone has the potential to be a musician. As with any skill or sport, there will be some students who progress faster than others, but anyone who puts their mind to studying an instrument will surprise themselves with how quickly they can improve their skills. Though not everyone will be able to play like Hendrix or Van Halen, anyone can dedicate themselves to an instrument and grow to their full potential. Any musician who has played for several years understands that progress never ends and if you play consistently, your skills will always continue to develop.

Inspiration

Every potential musician is inspired to learn to play by music that has moved them. Whether it’s a band, song, or even a single riff – there is a moment that you suddenly feel the desire to not only listen to music, but to create it yourself. We understand this very well and it is a major part of our teaching philosophy to use the music that inspired each of our students to motivate them to progress in their learning. We know that someone learning an instrument will not be content with simply memorizing music theory and practicing scales, so we make sure to incorporate each student’s musical preferences into their lessons. Whether they are inspired by Herbie Hancock or Avenged Sevenfold, our instructors will help each student understand the techniques behind their favorite music, while also teaching them the music theory they will need to broaden their musical perspective and create their own unique styles.

Musical Freedom

At Mobius Music Academy, our staff values the importance of keeping an open mind. We have all taught in environments where only certain types of music, instruments, or teaching techniques were tolerated while others were discouraged. We believe that all music is art and we would never refrain from teaching any style or genre. This is one of the basic concepts behind our school: We teach our students to play music, but we don’t force them to play a certain type of music. Besides, part of growing as a musician is to always be discovering new music that inspires you. Through working together, both the students and instructors share their musical preferences and trade influences.
